Sherman College Names Chiropractor of the Year, Regent of the Year and Other Award Recipients

Spartanburg, SC (05/16/2022) — Sherman College Names Chiropractor of the Year, Regent of the Year and Other Award Recipients

Sherman College of Chiropractic honored alumni, chiropractors and supporters during its 49th Lyceum, a homecoming and continuing education event attended by hundreds throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held each year and involves three days of seminars, special events and other programs. More than 650 people participated in this year's event, held April 28-30 on campus in Spartanburg, SC. The college is proud to announce the following 2022 award recipients:

Thom and Betty Gelardi Service Award: Edwin Cordero, D.C., and Mrs. Debbie Cordero
This award was created to honor the Gelardis and recognizes the recipients' unselfish dedication, visionary leadership and pioneering spirit. The Board of Trustees has honored the Corderos for their many contributions to the college and the profession. Dr. Cordero is a 1993 graduate of Life University College of Chiropractic. Since becoming Sherman College's fifth president in January 2013, Dr. Cordero and Sherman College have grown enrollment to more than 400 students, and he has accomplished many campus improvements, the most notable being the addition of the Drs. Thom and Betty Gelardi Student Center. Debbie Cordero shares her husband's passion for chiropractic. After Dr. Cordero's graduation, the family moved to Boynton Beach, FL, where she managed the day-to-day business of their private practice, including bookkeeping, scheduling, clinic work, and welcoming patients. Debbie also has credentials in entomology and is a certified master gardener.

Chiropractor of the Year: Jaime Browning, B.S., D.C., '09, D.C.C.J.PThis award is bestowed upon doctors who have, through their service, given extraordinary time and effort to advance Sherman College and the principled chiropractic profession. Dr. Jaime Browning of Simpsonville, SC, is a 2009 graduate of Sherman College and is an associate professor and chair of the Technique Department. She has an advanced certification in Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific technique and is a 2019 Diplomate in Craniocervical Junction Procedures as confirmed by the International Chiropractic Association (ICA). Since 2012, she has served as chair of Sherman College's Institutional Review Board; she is also the chair of the college's Academy of Chiropractic Excellence (ACE) intern program. In 2018, Dr. Browning was named research chair of the ICA's Upper Cervical Council, and she was honored as Researcher of the Year in 2020.

Regent of the Year: Lacey Book, D.C., and Shawn Dill, D.C.
This award is presented in recognition of outstanding and continuous advancement of Sherman College through participation on the college's Board of Regents, a group that supports quality chiropractic education and Sherman College through speaking engagements, leadership roles, student referrals, and financial support. Dr. Lacey Book is a cum laude graduate of Life Chiropractic College West. She is co-host of the El Salvador Outreach Program and is highly sought as a speaker, making numerous domestic and international appearances each year. Dr. Shawn Dill is a 1995 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic. For eight years, Dr. Dill practiced in Costa Rica, where he authored the law that regulates the practice of chiropractic in that country. Since returning to the U.S., Dr. Dill has become an international speaker, a noted authority in Upper Cervical Specific chiropractic, and a consultant on marking, sales, and entrepreneurship strategies for service professionals. Drs. Book and Dill co-authored the book, None of Your Business, and serve as chief operating officer and chief executive officer of the chiropractic franchise, The Specific Chiropractic Centers, which operates 16 clinics from Kauai to Boston. They are also co-founders of Black Diamond Consulting, known as the Black Diamond Club.
