Sherman College of Chiropractic celebrates Faculty and Staff of the year

Spartanburg, SC (01/18/2023) — Sherman College of Chiropractic recognized and awarded faculty and staff for their dedication and contributions at the annual Faculty and Staff awards day on November 7th 2022.

This event serves as an opportunity to celebrate the successes of the past year and a look into the vision and future of the college.

Faculty of the Year:

Dr. Samantha Attaway

With degrees in Anatomy, Biology and Neuroscience, over one dozen published articles, and twenty-three years of teaching experience, it can be argued that Dr. Samantha Attaway came to Sherman College in 2020 already a distinguished individual and has continued to stand out as a member of the campus community.

Teaching primarily in the area of neuroanatomy, it is said Dr. Attaway's most distinguishing quality is her engaging teaching style. Students describe her as "professional, brilliant, organized, and willing to present the information 100 different ways if that is what is needed for [them] to learn."

Dr. Attaway consistently supports her peers and contributes to any areas requiring assistance; moreover, her commitment to improve the academic program was recently rewarded with her appointment as chair of the anatomy department. Dean of Basic Sciences, Dr. George Luo, deems Dr. Attaway "a very capable instructor and a good team player. She is willing to accept any load [or] assignments that I give her to help our students."

Dr. Joe Donofrio, Vice President for Academic Affairs, stated, "Dr. Attaway previously had a long list of honors and awards prior to her arrival at Sherman College of Chiropractic, and we are so grateful that she has chosen to call Sherman her home. It is with pleasure and pride to award her the well-deserved honor of Faculty Member of the Year."

Staff of the Year:

Kevin Likes

In recognition and appreciation of his commitment to ensuring that the campus of Sherman College is safe and secure, Security and Safety Manager Kevin Likes is named Staff Person of the Year for 2022. Since joining the campus community in 2019, Kevin has worked to establish and refine procedures, while also providing safety and security education opportunities for students and employees. Kevin has worked to build positive relationships with not only campus constituents, but also with distinguished guests and visitors.

Kevin provides the campus with more than 30 years of security experience, and also served our country for more than eight years in the United States Army.

David Bedford, Associate Vice President for Finance, stated, "Kevin continually exhibits an unwavering dedication to serving the college, often going above and beyond to assist others. There is no doubt that our campus is a safer environment because of his commitment."
