Sherman Welcomes Two New Members to Board of Trustees

Sherman College of Chiropractic welcomed two new Board of Trustees members on January 27, 2023. Sherman College is led by a visionary group of chiropractors and other professionals who are dedicated to carrying out the college's mission, goals, and objectives to educate chiropractors to serve humanity with high-quality chiropractic care and to conduct chiropractic research.

Charles Hodge, Esq.

Trustee Charles "Charlie" Hodge has lived in Spartanburg, South Carolina most of his life and has been in active law practice for over 41 years. Hodge graduated with an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of South Carolina School of Law in Columbia, South Carolina.

Mr. Hodge is a partner at Hodge & Langley Law Firm in Spartanburg, South Carolina, serving every level of South Carolina's court system and, several areas of North Carolina, and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Hodge's skill and integrity in practice have been recognized by his peers as indicated by his AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating available to any individual lawyer.

Mr. Hodge has been active on numerous boards, including the Coastal Carolina Board of Trustees, where he served as Board Chair, USC-Upstate Foundation, Spartanburg Soup Kitchen, The Haven, the local chapter of the American Red Cross, and many others.

Joseph Makhandal Champagne, Jr., Esq.

Trustee Joseph Makhandal Champagne earned his juris doctor degree from Vermont Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Columbia University. Upon graduation, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Wendell E. Daniels, J.S.C., of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Ocean County. Soon thereafter, Mr. Champagne opened his own practice in New Jersey, focusing primarily on immigration, criminal, personal injury, worker's compensation, and family law. He is a member of the Ocean County Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association, and American Immigration Lawyers. He is admitted to practice law in the New Jersey Supreme Court, The United States District Court, The Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals of the United States of America.

Mr. Champagne is committed and passionate about serving his constituency, community, and humanity. Over the years, he has served on several advisory committees and many boards. He was appointed by Assignment Judge Lawrence M. Lawson to the Superior Court Monmouth County Judiciary Advisory Committee on minority concerns. Mr. Champagne was the assistant to the Public Policy Counsel and Executive Director of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in Washington, D.C., and a founding member and an executive board officer of the National Haitian-American Elected Officials Network Inc.
