Sherman College Honors Legacy of Pioneer Graduate Virginia Brannon, D.C. During Lyceum 2026

Kick-Off to Lyceum 2026

by Cheri Anderson-Hucks

Spartanburg, SC (04/30/2026) — As part of Lyceum Week 2026, Sherman College of Chiropractic proudly honors and celebrates the life and legacy of the late Virginia Brannon, D.C., a distinguished member of the College's inaugural Pioneer graduating class of 1976. This milestone year marks the 50th reunion of that historic class-an occasion that reflects five decades of commitment, resilience, and leadership within the chiropractic profession.

Dr. Brannon's legacy continues to inspire through the establishment of the Virginia Brannon Endowed Memorial Scholarship, created by her family to support deserving Sherman students in perpetuity. This meaningful tribute ensures that her passion for chiropractic education and service will benefit future generations.

"Dr. Brannon represents the very heart of Sherman's founding spirit-courage, conviction, and a deep commitment to principled chiropractic care," said Sherman College President Dr. Jack Bourla. "Through this endowed scholarship, her legacy will continue to open doors for students and strengthen the future of our profession."

As part of the week's commemorative events, Dr. Bourla recently enjoyed a special conversation with Robin Brannon, Dr. Brannon's daughter, where she shared personal reflections, insights, and a deeper look into the enduring impact of one of Sherman's pioneering graduates. Watch the Bourla-Brannon Video Here.

"This scholarship is a powerful example of how one individual's legacy can create lasting opportunity," said Vice President for Advancement Bruce Rosengrant. "We are deeply grateful to the Brannon family for their generosity and vision, and we encourage others to consider how they, too, can make a meaningful difference through scholarship support."

Lyceum Week is Sherman College's premier annual event and homecoming, drawing students, alumni, faculty, and chiropractic professionals from across the country and around the world. The weeklong celebration features a dynamic blend of continuing education seminars, guest lectures from leading voices in the profession, alumni reunions, and special recognitions. Attendees also enjoy networking opportunities, campus traditions, and social events that strengthen the bonds of the Sherman community.

In addition to its educational offerings, Lyceum serves as a time to honor the College's history and those who have shaped it-making it a fitting backdrop to recognize the contributions of the Pioneer Class and the enduring legacy of graduates like Dr. Brannon. The event reflects Sherman College's ongoing commitment to advancing chiropractic education while fostering a strong sense of connection and shared purpose among its graduates and supporters.
