Sherman College Releases Presidential Profile, Begins Accepting Applications
The Sherman College Board of Trustees and Diversified Search Group are now accepting nominations and applications for the institution's sixth president. The college has posted a position description and all relevant details on its presidential search webpage, www.sherman.edu/presidentsearch.
Sherman College's Board of Trustees and its fifth president, Edwin Cordero, D.C., announced in February that Cordero would complete his 10-year presidency this December and that the college would begin the search for its next leader. The college then selected Diversified Search Group and established a search committee including board members as well as representatives from the college's executive leadership, Faculty Senate, Staff Council, alumni association, student body and leadership-level donors.
The search committee has worked with DivSearch over the past weeks to identify the characteristics and attributes for the institution's next president. In summary, Sherman College seeks a president who will embrace the distinctive mission and core values of the college, who embodies a courageous spirit, demonstrates the depth and breadth of knowledge associated with a chiropractic community, and has the capacity both to consult with and lead such a community with conviction.
"Our next president will need to build on the successes of Dr. Cordero and move Sherman College to even greater heights," said search committee chair Dr. Judy Campanale. "We are passionate about the institution and its role in leading the chiropractic profession. Sherman College has excellent programs led by an engaged and loyal faculty and staff, leading to lifelong ties between students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends. We are extremely proud of the warm collegiality of our community, the beauty of our campus, the institution's sound financial health, and our deep loyalty to the chiropractic profession."
The search process is expected to take several months, and a smooth transition is anticipated, with Dr. Cordero spending time with the new leader prior to his departure at the end of the year. Nominations and applications should be submitted electronically by August 15, 2022, and should include a complete resume or vita and a letter of candidacy that responds to the agenda for leadership and the desired attributes for the president. All relevant documents and details are posted on the college's website at www.sherman.edu/presidentsearch.
